단오 [May 5th of the Lunar calendar]
음력 5월 5일, 올해는 6월 19일이 단오입니다.
춘향이와 이도령이 처음 만난 날- 그날이 단오라고 하죠~
단오하면 창포,수리취떡, 씨름, 부채, 그네타기 등이 떠오릅니다
요즘 도서관에서는 책과 함께 자기 자신과의 씨름을 하는 학생들의 모습이 참 보기 좋습니다^-^
단오는 우리나라 뿐아니라 일본, 중국, 필리핀, 멕시코에도 있다고 합니다..
얼마전 한국이 단오를 세계문화유산으로 먼저 신청했다가 중국과 마찰이 있기도 했었죠.
강릉단오제는 유네스코 세계문화유산으로 잘 알려져 있고, 얼마전 영국 런던의
Trafalgar Square(트라팔가 광장)에서 지난 17일 한국의 '단오'를 알리는 문화축제가 화려하게 열렸다고 하네요^^
Korean Sparkling Summer Festival
KCPA가 기획하고 런던 시청, 문화관광부, 대한민국 대사관, 한국 문화원 그리고 한국관광공사가 주최한 이 행사는 이번이 최초로 런던 시청에서 한국 관련 문화 행사를 공동 주최하게 되었습니다.
전통문화를 알리는 것 외에도 영국과 한국 B-Boys의 댄스베틀- 불꽃튀는 대결이 있었다고 하네요
현지에 있었던 한국인들은 감회가 새로웠을 것 같습니다~

Dano [May 5th of the Lunar calendar]
DANO is the 5th May of the lunar calendar and in Korea marks an early summer fete.
Korean ancestor believed that it was the day with strongest Yang(양) energy.
The most popular events of the day are iris hair treatment and folk games Ssireum (Korean wrestling) for the men and traditional Swings for the women.
It was a DANO custom to present fans called DANOSUN decorated with paintings or writings to your acquaintances in preparation for the coming long and humid summer.
This year, DANO falls on 19th June which is TODAY ^^
